แล้วซามูเอลพูดกับซาอูลว่า “ท่านรบกวนเราด้วยเรียกเราขึ้นมาทำไม” ซาอูลทรงตอบว่า “ข้าพเจ้ามีความทุกข์หนัก เพราะคนฟีลิสเตียกำลังมาทำสงครามกับข้าพเจ้า และพระเจ้าทรงหันจากข้าพเจ้าเสียแล้ว มิได้ทรงตอบข้าพเจ้าอีกเลย ไม่ว่าโดยผู้พยากรณ์ หรือโดยความฝัน เพราะฉะนั้นข้าพเจ้าจึงขอเรียกท่านขึ้นมาเพื่อท่านจะได้แจ้งว่า ข้าพเจ้าจะกระทำประการใดดี”

¶ And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.
