Zo drong David met Abisjai ‘s nachts tot de troep door. En zie, daar lag Saul in het legerkamp te slapen; aan zijn hoofdeinde stond zijn lans in de grond gestoken, en Abner lag met het volk in een kring om hem heen.

So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground at his bolster: but Abner and the people lay round about him.
