દાઉદ અરણ્યમાં મજબૂત મિલોઓમાં અને ઝીફના અરણ્યમાં પહાડી પ્રદેશમાં રહ્યો. શાઉલ તેને દરરોજ શોધતો હતો, પણ ઈશ્વરે તેને તેના હાથમાં લાગવા દીધો નહિ.
