దావీదు నోబులో యాజకుడైన అహీమెలెకు దగ్గరికి వచ్చాడు. అహీమెలెకు దావీదు రావడం చూసి భయపడి “నువ్వు ఒంటరిగా వచ్చావెందుకు?” అని అడిగాడు,

Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?
