1 சாமுவேல் 20:3

அப்பொழுது தாவீது: உம்முடைய கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயை கிடைத்தது என்று உம்முடைய தகப்பன் நன்றாக அறிவார்; ஆகையால் யோனத்தானுக்கு மனவருத்தம் உண்டாகாதபடி அவன் இதை அறியக்கூடாது என்பார்; மரணத்திற்கும் எனக்கும் ஒரு அடி தூரம் மாத்திரம் இருக்கிறது என்று யெகோவாவுடைய ஜீவனையும் உம்முடைய ஜீவனையும் கொண்டு நிச்சயமாய்ச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று பதில் சொல்லி ஆணையிட்டான்.

And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.
