Saul zeide tot David: Ziehier mijn oudste dochter Merab; haar zal ik u tot vrouw geven, mits gij in mijn dienst een dapper man zijt en de oorlogen des Heren voert. Maar Saul dacht: Laat niet mijn hand, maar de hand der Filistijnen tegen hem zijn.
