જ્યાં કંઈ શાઉલ દાઉદને મોકલતો હતો ત્યાં તે જતો અને તે સફળ થતો. શાઉલે તેને સૈનિકો પર સરદાર તરીકે નીમ્યો. એ સર્વ લોકની નજરમાં તથા શાઉલના ચાકરોની નજરમાં પણ સારુ લાગ્યું.
