બીજે દિવસે ઈશ્વર તરફથી એક દુષ્ટ આત્મા શાઉલ પર જોશભેર આવ્યો, તે ઘરમાં બકવાટ કરવા લાગ્યો. તેથી દાઉદ પોતાના નિત્યના ક્રમ મુજબ વાજિંત્ર વગાડતો હતો. તે વખતે શાઉલના હાથમાં પોતાનો ભાલો હતો.
