હવે દાઉદ બેથલેહેમ યહૂદિયાના એફ્રાથી માણસ યિશાઈનો દીકરો હતો. યિશાઈને આઠ દીકરા હતા. શાઉલના દિવસોમાં યિશાઈ વૃદ્ધ અને પુખ્ત ઉંમરનો ગણાતો હતો.
