సమూయేలు నూనె కొమ్మును తీసి అతని తలపై నూనె పోసి అతని అన్నల ముందు అతణ్ణి అభిషేకించాడు. ఆ రోజు నుండి యెహోవా ఆత్మ దావీదును తీవ్రంగా ఆవహించాడు. తరువాత సమూయేలు లేచి రమాకు వెళ్లిపోయాడు.

Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
