సౌలు బతికినంత కాలం సమూయేలు అతణ్ణి చూసేందుకు వెళ్లలేదు గానీ సౌలును గూర్చి దుఃఖిస్తూ వచ్చాడు. తాను సౌలును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులపై రాజుగా నియమించినందుకు యెహోవా పశ్చాత్తాపం చెందాడు.
