​แล​้วซาอูลจึงตรัสกับโยนาธานว่า “​เจ้​าได้กระทำอะไร จงบอกเรามา” โยนาธานก็ทูลว่า “ข้าพระองค์​ได้​​ชิ​​มน​้ำผึ้งที่​ติ​ดปลายไม้​เท​้าซึ่งอยู่ในมือของข้าพระองค์เล็กน้อยเท่านั้น และดู​เถิด​ ข้าพระองค์ต้องตาย”
