సౌలు జీవించిన కాలమంతా ఫిలిష్తీయులతో యుద్ధాలు జరుగుతూనే ఉన్నాయి. సౌలు తనకు తారసపడ్డ బలాఢ్యులను, వీరులను చేరదీసి తన సైన్యంలో చేర్చుకున్నాడు.
