koos Saul zich drieduizend man uit Israël, waarvan er tweeduizend waren bij Saul te Mikmas en op het gebergte van Betel en duizend bij Jonatan te Gibea in Benjamin, maar de rest van het volk liet hij weggaan, ieder naar zijn tent.

Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel; whereof two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Beth-el, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.
