Det fanns ingenting kvar i arken förutom de två stentavlorna som Mose lade dit vid Horeb (hebr. Chorev) [Sinai berg], när Herren (Jahveh) skar förbund med Israels söner, när de kom ut från Egyptens land. [Det hebreiska ordet för Horeb delar rot med cherev som betyder svärd.]

There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
