Dentro dell'Arca non vi era null'altro, che le due Tavole di pietra, che Mosè vi avea riposte in Horeb, quando il Signore fece patto co' figliuoli d'Israele, dopo che furono usciti del paese di Egitto.

There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
