Le couronnement de la base offrait à son intérieur une ouverture avec un prolongement d’une coudée vers le haut; cette ouverture était ronde, comme pour les ouvrages de ce genre, et elle avait une coudée et demie de largeur; il s’y trouvait aussi des sculptures. Les panneaux étaient carrés, et non arrondis.

And the mouth of it within the chapiter and above was a cubit: but the mouth thereof was round after the work of the base, a cubit and an half: and also upon the mouth of it were gravings with their borders, foursquare, not round.
