అంతలో రెండో స్త్రీ “అలా కాదు, బతికి ఉన్నవాడు నా కొడుకు. చచ్చినవాడు ఆమె కొడుకు” అని చెప్పింది. అప్పుడా మొదటి స్త్రీ “కాదు, చచ్చిన వాడే నీ కొడుకు, బతికి ఉన్నవాడు నా కొడుకు” అంది. ఈ విధంగా వారు రాజు ఎదుట వాదించుకున్నారు.

And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.
