അതിന്നു അവൻ: സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കു വേണ്ടി ഞാൻ വളരെ ശുഷ്കാന്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ നിന്റെ നിയമത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു, നിന്റെ യാഗപീഠങ്ങളെ ഇടിച്ചു, നിന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊന്നു കളഞ്ഞു; ഞാൻ ഒരുത്തൻ മാത്രം ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കും അവർ ജീവഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ നോക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
