அதற்கு அவள்: பானையில் ஒரு பிடி மாவும் கலயத்தில் கொஞ்சம் எண்ணெயையும் தவிர, என்னிடத்தில் ஒரு அப்பமும் இல்லையென்று உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன்; இதோ, நானும் என்னுடைய மகனும் சாப்பிட்டு, சாப்பிட ஒன்றுமில்லாமையால் செத்துப்போக, அதை எனக்கும் அவனுக்கும் ஆயத்தப்படுத்த இரண்டு விறகு பொறுக்குகிறேன் என்றாள்.

And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
