അതിന്നു അവൾ: നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയാണ, കലത്തിൽ ഒരു പിടി മാവും തുരുത്തിയിൽ അല്പം എണ്ണയും മാത്രമല്ലാതെ എനിക്കു ഒരു അപ്പവും ഇല്ല. ഞാൻ ഇതാ, രണ്ടു വിറകു പെറുക്കുന്നു; ഇതു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു എനിക്കും മകന്നും വേണ്ടി ഒരുക്കി അതു ഞങ്ങൾ തിന്നിട്ടു മരിപ്പാനിരിക്കയാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
