యోహాను రాసిన మొదటి పత్రిక 3:1

మనం దేవుని పిల్లలం అని పిలిపించుకోవాలని తండ్రి మనకు ఎలాటి ప్రేమను కట్టబెట్టాడో చూడండి! మనం దేవుని పిల్లలమే. ఆ కారణం చేత లోకం మనలను గుర్తించదు, ఎందుకంటే అది దేవుణ్ణి ఎరగదు.

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
