Dit is hun overkomen tot een voorbeeld (voor ons) en het is opgetekend ter waarschuwing voor ons, over wie het einde der eeuwen gekomen is.

Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
