แล้วกษัตริย์ดาวิดทรงลุกขึ้นประทับยืน และตรัสว่า “พี่น้องของข้าพเจ้า และประชาชนของข้าพเจ้า ขอจงฟังข้าพเจ้า ข้าพเจ้ามีใจประสงค์ที่จะสร้างพระนิเวศอันเป็นที่พักของหีบพันธสัญญาของพระเยโฮวาห์ และเพื่อเป็นที่รองพระบาทของพระเจ้าของเรา และข้าพเจ้าได้จัดเตรียมการก่อสร้างไว้เสร็จแล้ว

Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:
