फिर कुछ मनश्शेई भी उस समय दाऊद के पास भाग आए, जब वह पलिश्तियों के साथ होकर शाऊल से लड़ने को गया, परन्तु वह उसकी कुछ सहायता न कर सका, क्योंकि पलिश्तियों के सरदारों ने सम्मति लेने पर यह कहकर उसे विदा किया, “वह हमारे सिर कटवाकर अपने स्वामी शाऊल से फिर मिल जाएगा।”
