Böylece İsrael'in bütün ihtiyarları Hevron'daki kralın yanına geldiler; David de Hevron'da Yahve'nin önünde onlarla bir antlaşma yaptı. Yahve'nin Samuel aracılığıyla olan sözüne göre David'i İsrael üzerine kral olarak meshettiler.
